Great enthusiasm about AI application within event system

Even before ChatGPT took over the media, the developers of Invitado Visitor Managementhad already plunged into the APIs of this revolutionary application out of professional curiosity. The design of the new Invitado tool for event texts is simple and easy to use. You choose the type of text you want to generate (general, invitation or confirmation email or speaker bio), select the language (Dutch or English, where in Dutch you can choose between the u or the you form), fill in enter the essential data (event name, date and time, location) and possibly some additional data, and then put the generator to work. And just like for a copywriter of flesh and blood, the more concrete the briefing, the more useful the text, as it soon turns out.

Dots on the i

'In many cases the texts generated on the basis of artificial intelligence can be used almost immediately, but of course it is good to remain critical and to dot the i's and cross the t's yourself.' Michiel Droog of Invitado is speaking. 'If only with a view to the tone of voice within the communication around your event. At the very least, our tool is a very effective remedy against writer's block or the proverbial fear of the blank sheet of paper: such automatically generated text will help you on your way anyway. And good too!'

Nice and easy

'We prefer to make things as simple as possible for our customers,' Droog continues. 'And if technology can lend a helping hand, we are of course happy to embrace it. Writing texts is not our core business: our customers are primarily responsible for their content. But with this tool we make it a little bit easier for them in a fun way.'

'Frankly astounding'

A number of Invitado customers have already gained the necessary experience with the tool during a pilot. The initial skepticism gave way to great enthusiasm on the part of most people, as evidenced by the very positive feedback. The responses range from 'It's really nice to have such a starting point for your texts' to 'It's super easy to use and the results are simply amazing.'

Al pionierend ontwikkelden ze een slimme tool waarmee eventorganisatoren razendsnel event-teksten kunnen genereren. In een pilot toonden geselecteerde opdrachtgevers zich de afgelopen maanden zo enthousiast, dat deze aanvankelijk experimentele, dedicated tekstgenerator nu gratis deel uitmaakt van de flexibele totaaloplossing die Invitado eventorganisatoren biedt.

Laagdrempelig

De opzet van de nieuwe Invitado-tool voor eventteksten is simpel en het gebruik ervan laagdrempelig. Je kiest het type tekst dat je wilt genereren (algemeen, uitnodigings- of bevestigingsmail of sprekers-bio), selecteert de taal (Nederlands of Engels, waarbij er in het Nederlands de keuze is tussen de u- of de jij-vorm), vult de essentiële data (eventnaam, datum en tijd, locatie) en eventueel wat aanvullende gegevens in, en zet vervolgens de generator aan het werk. En net als voor een copywriter van vlees en bloed geldt: hoe concreter de briefing, hoe bruikbaarder de tekst, blijkt al snel.

Puntjes op de i

‘In heel veel gevallen blijken de op basis van kunstmatige intelligentie gegenereerde teksten nagenoeg direct te gebruiken, maar natuurlijk is het goed om kritisch te blijven en de puntjes zelf nog even op de i te zetten.’ Aan het woord is Michiel Droog van Invitado. ‘Al is het maar met het oog op de tone of voice binnen de communicatie rond je event. Op z’n minst is onze tool een heel probaat middel tegen een writer’s block of de spreekwoordelijke angst voor het lege vel papier: zo’n automatisch gegenereerde tekst helpt je hoe dan ook op weg. En goed ook!’

Leuk en makkelijk

‘We maken het onze klanten het liefst zo eenvoudig mogelijk,’ vervolgt Droog. ‘En als de techniek daarbij een handje kan helpen, omarmen we dat natuurlijk graag. Het schrijven van teksten is niet onze core business: onze klanten zijn in eerste instantie zelf verantwoordelijk voor hun content. Maar met deze tool maken we het ze op een leuke manier toch weer een klein beetje makkelijker.’

‘Ronduit verbluffend’

Een aantal klanten van Invitado heeft tijdens een pilot al de nodige ervaring met de tool opgedaan. De aanvankelijke scepsis maakte bij de meesten plaats voor groot enthousiasme, zo blijkt uit de zeer positieve feedback. De reacties lopen uiteen van ‘Het is echt heel fijn om zo een startpunt voor je teksten te hebben’ tot ‘Het werkt supereenvoudig en de resultaten zijn ronduit verbluffend.’

Safe and accessible solution for event organizers

'We make it as simple as possible for organizers and visitors. That has been our approach for 15 years, and certainly in this corona time, when it is difficult enough for organizers to set up an event, any form of simplification is welcome. If we are already scanning e-tickets, why not immediately also scan the visitor's corona admission ticket?' explains Michiel Droog, director-owner of Invitado Visitor Management .

Open source source code

The developers of Invitado use the source code of the central government for this. 'It is completely open source, which makes it possible to include the current version unchanged in our scanning software,' says developer Antoine Veldhoven, who co-developed this solution in consultation with programmers of the CoronaCheck app. 'We also take over the configuration defined in the app one on one, so that our scanning software shows exactly the same information after checking as the official Scanner for CoronaCheck application.'

Also offline and fully automatic

Invitado's scanning software also works if the internet connection is lost, and that also applies to checking the QR codes from the CoronaCheck app. The software recognizes which type of QR code is displayed, then switches itself between checking e-tickets and corona tickets and then shows the correct result screen. 'This prevents hostesses from having to deal with an app on their phone in addition to our scanning equipment, or that visitors are confronted with double checkpoints,' explains Droog. 'This makes the check-in procedure not only faster and more efficient, but also much safer.'

All in one system

This fits in with Invitado's philosophy to offer all modules and services within one system, even if they are services from others. 'We have partnered up with the specialist Lumi for legal voting in our online platform, and this is another good example of how we want to offer our customers one comprehensive solution,' says Droog. 'As mentioned, the implementation of the CoronaCheck is faster and safer, but we also foresee that more organizers will dare to organize an event under the flag of Testing for Access.' Invitado is still awaiting ministerial approval to be able to use the integrated CoronaCheck.

Veilige en laagdrempelige oplossing voor eventorganisatoren

Invitado heeft de controle van door de CoronaCheck-app gegenereerde Nederlandse en Internationale QR-codes geïntegreerd in de eigen scansoftware. Dit biedt organisatoren van events de mogelijkheid om zowel de e-tickets als het coronatoegangsbewijs van de bezoekers bij dezelfde scanbalie, door dezelfde host en met dezelfde apparatuur te controleren.

'Wij maken het organisatoren en de bezoekers zo eenvoudig mogelijk. Dat is al 15 jaar onze insteek, en zeker in deze coronatijd, waarin het voor organisatoren al lastig genoeg is om een event op poten te zetten, is elke vorm van vereenvoudiging welkom. Als wij toch al e-tickets scannen, waarom dan niet meteen ook het coronatoegangsbewijs van de bezoeker?' legt Michiel Droog, directeur-eigenaar van Invitado Visitor Management, uit.

Open source broncode

De developers van Invitado maken hiervoor gebruik van de broncode van de Rijksoverheid. 'Die is volledig open source, waardoor het mogelijk is de actuele versie ongewijzigd te includen in onze scansoftware,' vertelt developer Antoine Veldhoven, die deze oplossing in samenspraak met programmeurs van de CoronaCheck-app mede ontwikkelde. 'Ook de in de app gedefinieerde configuratie nemen we één op één over, zodat onze scansoftware na controle exact dezelfde informatie toont als de officiële Scanner voor CoronaCheck-applicatie.'

Ook offline en volledig automatisch

De scansoftware van Invitado werkt ook als de internetverbinding wegvalt, en dat geldt ook voor het controleren van de QR-codes uit de CoronaCheck-app. De software herkent welk soort QR-code wordt getoond, schakelt vervolgens zelf tussen het controleren van e-tickets en coronatoegangsbewijzen en toont daarna het juiste resultaatscherm. 'Hiermee voorkom je dat hostessen behalve met onze scanapparatuur ook nog met een app op hun telefoon in de weer moeten of dat bezoekers met dubbele controleposten worden geconfronteerd,' legt Droog uit. 'De incheckprocedure wordt hiermee niet alleen sneller en efficiënter, maar ook veel veiliger.'

Alles in één systeem

Dit past in de filosofie van Invitado alle modules en diensten binnen één systeem aan te bieden, ook als dat diensten van anderen zijn. 'Voor rechtsgeldige stemmingen in ons online platform zijn we een samenwerking met de specialist Lumi aangegaan, en ook dit is weer een goed voorbeeld van hoe we onze klanten één allesomvattende oplossing willen aanbieden,' vertelt Droog. 'De implementatie van de CoronaCheck is als gezegd sneller en veiliger, maar wij voorzien ook dat hiermee meer organisatoren het zullen aandurven een event onder de vlag van Testen voor Toegang te organiseren.' Om de geïntegreerde CoronaCheck in te kunnen zetten is Invitado nog in afwachting van ministeriële goedkeuring.

'Al gaat ook hier uiteraard de nodige intelligentie achter schuil: als organisator kun je als je dat wilt wel groepen deelnemers definiëren die met elkaar in contact kunnen komen.'
