Hertford Castle

Hertford Castle is a historic venue in Hertford, Hertfordshire, available for weddings, private celebrations and business events. Set beside the River Lea, its Grade I listed surroundings and gardens provide a distinctive setting for gatherings of different sizes.

The Downshire Suite brings together three ground-floor spaces: the Salisbury Room, the Mayor's Parlour and the Victorian Conservatory. Organisers can hire the suite or individual rooms, choosing a layout to suit the occasion. The venue welcomes wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, christenings and other private gatherings. Wedding options include civil ceremonies, vow renewals and receptions, with capacity for up to 60 guests seated or 100 at a more informal gathering.

For corporate organisers, the rooms can host meetings, interviews, workshops, presentations, training sessions and launches. Depending on the room and layout, spaces suit small boardroom meetings through to larger gatherings. The Salisbury Room, for example, accommodates different presentation and meeting formats, while the Mayor's Parlour offers a more intimate boardroom setting. The Conservatory can be used as a light-filled reception or break-out space.

Hertford Castle is a dry-hire venue, giving organisers the freedom to choose their own caterers and suppliers. Meeting-room hire can include Wi-Fi, lunch and refreshments. The venue's team can discuss arrangements and visits with prospective hirers, and the rooms are located on the ground floor. With its heritage character, flexible spaces and peaceful garden outlook, the Castle offers a memorable setting for both personal and professional events.
