The Treman Center

The Treman Center is a distinctive event venue in Newfield, near Ithaca, New York. Set beside Robert H. Treman State Park, it brings together a carefully restored 19th-century barn, locally crafted stonework and a peaceful natural setting. The venue is suited to organisers seeking a characterful place for a small private gathering, workshop, retreat or cultural event.

Inside, the three-storey building offers different areas for groups to meet, share ideas and spend time together. Its grounds add outdoor options, including gardens, stone courtyards and a reflecting pool. The setting combines the warmth of historic materials with a sense of space and quiet, making it a good fit for thoughtful programmes focused on learning, wellbeing, the arts, spirituality or environmental and social change.

The centre's current direction is centred on events that support its mission. In 2026, it is making its second floor available for small private events of up to 30 people. Organisers should contact the venue to discuss whether their plans fit this purpose and to confirm current arrangements. The venue is no longer hosting public events, so its offer is focused on selected private gatherings rather than large public functions.

Located around ten minutes from downtown Ithaca, The Treman Center offers organisers a setting that feels removed from the city while remaining nearby. Its historic barn, landscaped grounds and intimate scale make it a distinctive choice for a focused retreat or gathering in the Finger Lakes area.
