St Matthias Halls

St Matthias Halls offers three characterful spaces for hire in Stoke Newington, bringing together a welcoming community hall, a light-filled gallery and a Grade I-listed church. The different settings suit event planners looking for a distinctive venue for gatherings, creative work and cultural events.

The ground-floor St Matthias Hall accommodates up to 100 people and is suitable for celebrations, dinners, talks, workshops, classes, rehearsals and performances. It has a kitchen, tables and chairs, and disabled access. The Dissenters Gallery provides a more intimate option for up to 70 guests. Its bright first-floor setting can be used for recitals, exhibitions, private dining, rehearsals, classes, photo shoots and sound or video recording.

For events where atmosphere and acoustics matter, St Matthias Church can host concerts, performances, rehearsals, recordings and filming. Moveable pews and chairs allow the layout to be adapted, and a Yamaha concert grand piano is available to hire. The church is a historic setting, while the adjacent hall can be useful for supporting activities such as catering or a green room.

Bookings are made by enquiry, with organisers able to specify their preferred space, event type, timings and expected attendance. The venue is also used for meetings, talks and workshops. Current booking guidance says late events and adult parties are not being accepted, so organisers should check availability and permitted uses before making plans. St Matthias Halls is on Wordsworth Road, within reach of local bus and Overground connections.
