Downstairs at The Department Store

Downstairs at The Department Store is a flexible event venue in Brixton, South London, set on the lower-ground floor of a restored historic building. Its open-plan setting offers organisers a blank canvas for exhibitions, gallery shows, product launches, talks, workshops, receptions, award ceremonies, wellbeing sessions and other special occasions. The venue has an overall area of 407 square metres, including circulation and facilities, and can host up to 220 guests standing or 120 seated. The main event space is approximately 295 square metres, with a simple finish that can be adapted to different layouts and event styles.

Organisers can hire the space for evening and weekend events, while gallery and exhibition bookings are also available during the day. Practical features include Wi-Fi, accessible facilities, showers and changing space, lifts, and a loading bay subject to availability.
