When you say Alix - Maison d'Amis, you (hopefully) immediately think of our amazing and gigantic garden in the center of Ghent. Situated between the station and the historic heart of the city, hidden behind the facade of a beautiful townhouse. But perhaps you have a beautiful garden of your own and are thinking of organizing a garden party. In that case, there are a few things you certainly shouldn't overlook. We are happy to help you on your way with a handy checklist!
1. Weather conditions and comfort (or: a Plan B)
- At an outdoor party in Belgium, the weather is the biggest variable. Make sure you are prepared for everything.
One or more tents: ensure a covered area large enough for all guests (for eating, drinking, and the ceremony). The muscle-bound team at 2vrent provides top-notch service!
- Heating or cooling: consider patio heaters or a fire pit for the evening, or shade cloths and fans during heatwaves.
- Surface: Are there places where stilettos sink into the grass? Consider a wooden floor or warn guests in advance.
- Insects: Place baskets with mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
2. Technology & Logistics
- The invisible things that make the party a success.
- Power supply: Is the fuse box powerful enough for both the coffee machine and the caterer's oven? An extra circuit or generator is often not an unnecessary luxury.
- Lighting: provide mood lighting, but do not forget the functional lighting.
- Toilets: Is the indoor capacity sufficient? If not, consider a portable toilet (including connections/drain).
- Neighbors: inform them (or invite them!) to prevent complaints.
3. Catering & beverages
- Eating outdoors requires a specific approach.
- Refrigeration: where do you store the ice cubes and white wine? Ensure you have enough refrigerators, but don't forget the freezer.
- Water supply: ensure there is a central point where guests can always get water, especially on hot days.
- Dietary requirements: make a list of allergies in advance, and don't forget the vegetarians or vegans.
- Our tips for catering? Food Architect and Aardig, for sure! For street food, nothing beats the delicious pizzas from Pizza Flam.
4. Styling & atmosphere
It's all in the details.
- Signage: make nice signs for 'Ceremony', 'Bar', and 'Toilet'.
- Furniture: mix & match for a casual look, or go for sleek lounge tables. Don't forget to provide enough seating for older guests. In our opinion, Levi Party Rental is definitely a top provider when it comes to rental equipment.
5. “Just that little bit extra”
- First aid kit: for minor accidents
- Coat rack for coats
- Umbrella stand
- Basket in the toilet with chewing gum, deodorant, tampons,…
- Parking: Is there enough space on the street or in the neighborhood, or does a field/parking lot need to be reserved?
So, a whole lot of things to think about.

Zeg je Alix - Maison d’Amis, dan denk je (hopelijk) meteen aan onze geweldige en gigantische tuin die we hebben in het centrum van Gent. Tussen het station en het historische hart van de stad, verscholen achter de gevel van een prachtig herenhuis. Maar misschien heb je zelf ook wel een mooie tuin en denk je eraan om zelf een tuinfeest te organiseren. Dan zijn er enkele zaken die je zeker niet over het hoofd mag zien. We helpen je graag op weg met handige checklist!
1. Weersomstandigheden en comfort (ofwel: een Plan B)
- Bij een buitenfeest in België is het weer de grootste variabele. Zorg dat je op alles bent voorbereid.
Een of meerdere tenten: zorg voor een overdekking die groot genoeg is voor alle gasten (zowel om te eten, te drinken als voor de ceremonie). De spierbundels van 2vrent leveren topservice!
- Verwarming of verkoeling: denk aan terrasverwarmers of een vuurschaal voor de avond, of juist schaduwdoeken en ventilatoren bij hitte.
- Ondergrond: Zijn er plekken waar naaldhakken in het gras zakken? Overweeg een houten vloer of waarschuw de gasten vooraf.
- Insecten: Zet mandjes neer met anti-muggenspray en zonnecrème.
2. Techniek & logistiek
- De onzichtbare zaken die het feest laten slagen.
- Stroomvoorziening: is de zekeringkast zwaar genoeg voor de koffiemachine én de oven van de cateraar? Een extra stroomgroep of aggregaat is vaak geen overbodige luxe.
- Verlichting: zorg voor sfeerverlichting, maar vergeet ook de functionele verlichting niet.
- Toiletten: is de capaciteit binnenshuis voldoende? Zo niet, overweeg een mobiel toilet (inclusief aansluitingen/afvoer).
- Buren: breng ze op de hoogte (of nodig ze uit!) om klachten te voorkomen.
3. Catering & dranken
- Buiten eten vraagt om een specifieke aanpak.
- Koeling: waar bewaar je de ijsblokjes en de witte wijn? Zorg voor voldoende koelkasten, maar vergeet ook de vriezer niet.
- Watervoorziening: zorg voor een centraal punt waar gasten altijd water kunnen nemen, zeker op warme dagen.
- Dieetwensen: maak vooraf een lijstje van allergieën, vergeet de vegetariërs of vegans niet.

4. Styling & sfeer
Het zit 'm in de details.
- Bewegwijzering: maak leuke bordjes voor 'Ceremonie', 'Bar' en 'Toilet'.
- Meubilair: mix & match voor een nonchalante look, of ga voor strakke loungetafels. Vergeet niet voldoende zitplekken te creëren voor oudere gasten. Levi Party Rental is volgens ons alvast een topaanbieder als het op verhuurmateriaal aankomt.
5. “Net-dat-beetje-extra"
- EHBO-kit: voor kleine ongelukjes
- Kapstok voor de jassen
- Paraplu-bak
- Mandje in het toilet met kauwgom, deodorant, tampons,…
- Parkeren: is er genoeg plek in de straat of de buurt, of moet er een weiland/parkeerplaats gereserveerd worden?
Héél veel zaken om aan te denken dus.
