Event Confederation
  • Belgiëplein 1, 1020 Brussel, Belgium

Event Confederation is an umbrella organization that unites, represents, defends and informs the broad event sector in Belgium. Our members are federations that are recognized and praised for their commitment to the different types of event professionals within the broad event sector: suppliers, organizers, venues, agencies, catering, festivals, etc.

In order to promote the broad interests of everyone in the event sector and our members in particular, we want to be structurally visible and be the first point of contact for event professionals, policy makers, researchers, media and the general public. We do not drive for one specific group within one specific region, but we are the voice for everyone active in our sector. These are all professionals who spend more than 50% of their turnover organizing and/or supplying events (conferences, fairs, festivals, public events, company parties, etc.). That is why, as the Event Confederation, we are strongly committed to communicating with the various stakeholders who can contribute to a stronger and more united event sector in our country. To realize our ambitions, we focus on the development domains: knowledge and talent development, innovation and sustainability, safety and prevention.

Challenges for the Belgian events sector
February 27, 2024

Today, Event Confederation manager Christine Merckx talked to Kevin Van der Straeten about the challenges for the events sector of tomorrow: “The complexity and diversity of our sector creates an ever-increasing lasagna of legislation in which a cat can no longer find its young. . That can and must be improved!”

Are you also curious about what is happening in the ...

For Event Confederation, a situation like the rave in Brustem is unacceptable
May 7, 2023

For Event Confederation, a situation like the rave in Brustem is unacceptable. We also like to organize parties, but not in this way.

Organizers and suppliers are expected to respect a laundry list of regulations. Control noise standards, ensure indoor air quality, use reusable cups, guarantee food safety, provide mobility plans, have safety & emergency plans available, set up access controls, ...

Back to work after 700 days of closure, but not yet profitable
February 12, 2022

Good news today. Orange phase is announced: dynamic events are allowed back, capacity for non-dynamic events has been increased, catering can be standing again, trade fairs can receive more visitors, team buildings can go back so that companies can better connect with their employees, companies can meet their customers again, no closing time more,…

And yet… Allowing 70% or 80% ...

Barometer brings perspective, but not enough for the broad sector
January 22, 2022

There is a barometer thanks to the hard work of the cabinets. The final parameters are not yet completely clear, but part of our sector can certainly get back to work under the barometer in phase red. This is a good evolution and politicians deserve thanks for this.

The event sector opens to never close again, we have to get ...

The event sector needs your support!
April 11, 2021

The next step towards its own joint committee for the event sector is the recognition of the Event Confederation as an official Belgian representative employers' organization. For this we need your weight in the number of companies represented and employees in the event sector.

Recently, without much publicity, many employees who fall under PC200 and who work in companies with ...

“Event sector on sale this Black Friday”
November 28, 2021

'Solidarity with society', that has been the question from the government for 20 months now. We will comply with this - also this time - but this is the last 'lockdown' for our sector.

It is now urgently time to work out other solutions, but no more flashing light policy. Our sector - just like the public - can no ...

Wake up & Speak up!

The event sector also shows its warm heart and assists in the affected region
July 26, 2021

In close collaboration with the Belgian Red Cross and the NCCN (National Crisis Centre), FPS Home Affairs and the Verlinden Cabinet, the EVENT Confederation, led by its chairwoman Vinciane Morel, has in recent days set up an aid campaign for the victims of the floods in the east of our country.

In doing so, the sector followed suit by taking ...

Prachtig initiatief. Een door de corona crisis zwaar getroffen sector die toch opkomt voor mensen in nood. ❤
