Kinepolis organized around 1,200 corporate events a year in Belgium before the corona crisis. The Group wants to focus on the online possibilities of events and makes a cinema in Kinepolis Antwerp permanently available to Blue Moon bv , a specialist in streaming corporate events. Both companies expect that today's popular online events will soon take a hybrid form. The 'BLUE MOON studios at KINEPOLIS' will be officially opened on Friday 26 March with a panel discussion about the future of corporate events, in the presence of Eddy Duquenne (CEO Kinepolis) and Thierry Geerts (Country Director Google Belgium).
It is no secret that the events sector has been turned upside down in the past year. But in times of crisis, the real entrepreneurs are on the right. That was no different for BLUE MOON from Aartselaar, which provides technical support and realization of events. When the pandemic broke out, BLUE MOON reinvented its business model in no time: they built a network of 15 online event studios at 5 different locations. In 1 year, BLUE MOON provided more than 500 online corporate events.
Post-corona events become hybrid
In the meantime, it is clear that online events are much more than a necessary evil. The benefits in terms of efficiency, flexibility and international scalability are great. BLUE MOON therefore expects that the digitization of corporate events and communication will continue after corona and evolve into a hybrid form, in which events contain both a physical and an online part.
This evolution has also not escaped Kinepolis Group. The cinema group has decided to make a cinema in Antwerp permanently available as a streaming studio. BLUE MOON provides the technology and the furnishing of the studio.
Companies and organizations need certainty about their events
Events are an important form of communication and networking for many companies. Even in Covid times, this need remains high. The BLUE MOON studios at Kinepolis guarantee that the events can take place under all circumstances. In case of stricter corona measures, it can still be decided to allow less or no audience during the event. The broadcast can continue at any time, with the participants following from a distance.
BLUE MOON and Kinepolis think that, even when physical events will be possible again, the digital part - where appropriate - will continue to exist, not to replace the physical events, but to strengthen them.
Local physical events, connected internationally online
By combining high-quality auditoriums with high-performance online event expertise, BLUE MOON and Kinepolis want to offer a solution for international conference traffic, among other things, that will take a while. The BLUE MOON studios at Kinepolis will make it possible - as soon as possible - to organize smaller-scale physical events in various places and to connect them online so that a broad information transfer can be combined with local network possibilities.
Gregory Buytaert of BLUE MOON: 'This new collaboration combines the innovation capacity and maneuverability of BLUE MOON with the logistics and hospitality strength of Kinepolis. We are expanding our online studios with a 'hybrid theater': we will also receive physical visitors as soon as possible. For example, together with Kinepolis, we can offer customers the option of organizing digital, hybrid or multilocation events. '
Séverine Smetz, National B2B manager of Kinepolis: 'At Kinepolis we bring people together, whether for a relaxing movie experience or for a corporate event. Recently we have discovered the benefits of digital events en masse, but there is still a need for networking and meeting each other physically. We believe that in the future we will increasingly evolve towards hybrid events, where content is streamed but there is also an audience in the room, with or without a network reception afterwards. Our cinema infrastructure lends itself perfectly to this. Our good regional spread makes it perfectly possible to stream from Antwerp to other locations in the Benelux and beyond. This is how we respond to the needs of the business world in these challenging times. '
