Due to ever-increasing costs, events are no longer a given. If you want to continue growing as an event company, standing out and getting chosen are more important than ever.

Starting September 1, 2026, Bas is launching The MILE Makers, an agency that helps organizations in the event industry claim their place, instead of spending unnecessarily more on marketing.

"When growth stalls, you quickly think: I need to do more marketing," says Bas. "But that only makes sense if you have a distinctive story. If that story isn't right, marketing is pointless. I enter a layer earlier and ensure that the foundation of your company is rock solid. That way, you are no longer invisible, but become the first name customers call."

That philosophy has been translated into the MILE approach: four growth areas that work from the inside out. Brand identity defines who a company is in a brand manifesto, enabling it to strongly distinguish itself from competitors. Impression converts that story into converting copy for brochures, websites, newsletters, or social media. Loyalty maps out where existing customers are dropping off, resulting in more ambassadors and repeat inquiries. Events turns a relationship event or activation into a sales tool that allows prospects to experience firsthand what a company has to offer.

Bas built up thirteen years of experience as a concept developer and event manager: he conceived and organized countless events domestically and internationally. Subsequently, he spent seven years as editor-in-chief and co-owner of an online platform for the event industry. There, he left a significant mark on the direction by, among other things, developing distinctive content daily and establishing a popular podcast and increasingly large networking events. At the same time, he helped hundreds of event organizations gain more visibility. Unfortunately, he often saw the same pattern: good companies lose revenue because they are not distinctive enough. As a result, they cannot convince customers to choose them. From now on, that is about to change.

With my twenty years of event expertise, I help companies take significant steps in their growth ambitions. I know how clients and agencies think, how suppliers need to position themselves, and where companies truly make a difference in this market. By asking the question behind the question, I ensure the core issue is uncovered. This allows me to rapidly identify a company's distinctive capabilities and translate them into practical building blocks you can immediately put into practice. So, no separate consultants, but a strategist, copywriter, and event manager all in one passionate individual who goes the extra mile for your growth.
