Why Gastrobar Hartig?

Savory is more than just good food. You will be welcomed with open arms by a family who is passionate about the hospitality industry. The interior is warm and cozy and they are still Bernadette has reserved a nice table for us. We are surprised that the interior is so warm and cozy; you would not expect that if you walk along the case. As participants of dry january we are very happy with the non-alcoholic cocktails we are served. One with ice cubes made from raspberry, mint, lemon and IceTea Green and another with thyme, honey, orange and Sprite. Two or three dishes together make a full main course, so we choose some tasty things. What we fell in love with is the pulled fish. A dish with mackerel and spicy harissa, salmon with capers, onion and lime mayo and halibut with saffron mayonnaise. Really delicious. Add a piece of bread, do nothing more. In addition to the pulled fish, we also choose the prawns in homemade piripiri oil and patatas bravas. Then marinated steak tips with roasted peppers and spinach in phyllo dough with feta, pine nuts and herb cream on the table. We didn't expect the food to taste like this. Everything fresh, everything home-made, the combinations have been clearly thought through and the taste is sublime. Extremely durable too, so you can safely fork out a fork.

This gastro bar does shared dining, so you can enjoy several small dishes together, in an informal and comfortable atmosphere. Whatever is finished first is brought to the table first. This can be cold, but also warm. You eat world dishes with influences from Italy, France, Greece, Asia, Morocco and the Caribbean. "That mix is especially nice," says owner Stephan & Bernadette. "Chicken marinated in beer for twenty-four hours and then again with bok choy. We like to combine different cuisines."

With the state of our environment, it's always nice to eat where they care about our planet. They certainly do at Hartig. There is no frying; everything that comes out of the kitchen is made with two ovens and an induction plate. No more. Not even gas, because that is a fossil resource. All lights are LED and the next step is to install solar panels to make things run more economically.

Five years ago, the family started brooding about the idea of opening their own business. The eldest daughter was not having a good time at work and the eldest son ditto. Bernadette was temporarily out of a job, so the timing was perfect. During Christmas dinner, the grit came together and they decided to take the plunge. "Everyone thought we were crazy. Crisis time. As a family, we collected all our money, regardless of whether or not we would work in the business. We started small, with a short menu, to see what people thought about it." , says the owner.

"When we were renovating, there was a pallet with Kornuit beer outside and I started distributing cans everywhere. We invited the entire neighborhood for coffee. We actually involved the whole neighborhood and most of them come still regularly have a cup of coffee with us. Now after five years this is it. This is us. The people we work with, the things we make. Everything is correct. We sail our own course and do not take the opinions of others blindly. The guests who come here think along and influence us and that is why our ideas arise. Nothing is thought out in advance. That is why it is different and we have a strong identity, "says the now seasoned catering woman with pride.

For Stephan & Bernadette and the family, Hartig is more than just a way to make money. They believe in doing things right and have a long-term vision. "I have two grandchildren and another one is coming, so I want this to have a future. That Hartig will be a legacy," said Stephan & Bernadette. There are plans for the future to use the large storage space downstairs for private dining. A place where organizations can go for their meetings, drinks and private parties. And the dream is to set up our own delivery service, but we still have to wait for that.

Almost everyone who joins Hartig for the first time will return within three weeks. People from all over the country come to this gastro bar for good food and a nice atmosphere. Everything is possible here.
