Empire Theatre

Empire Theatre is a community-run theatre and cinema in Halstead, Essex, available for venue hire as well as its own programme of public performances and screenings. Its fixed-seat auditorium and proscenium stage make it a natural choice for organisers presenting theatre, live music, comedy, tribute acts and other stage-based shows. The venue also hosts local dramatic society productions and community performances, giving groups a place to bring their work to an audience.

The theatre has established technical facilities for live production, including a sound system, stage lighting, microphones, a control position and backstage areas. Organisers can consult the venue's technical specifications when planning a show, and additional equipment may be sourced if needed. The auditorium is also equipped for cinema screenings and streamed performances, so the programme can include films and productions broadcast from national arts venues.

Venue hire enquiries are welcomed through the theatre's website. The space is suited to productions that benefit from a traditional auditorium, a fixed audience layout and an equipped stage. Its ongoing programme spans live entertainment, film, theatre, comedy and community events, while accessibility information helps visitors plan their visit. The theatre is run by the Empire Theatre Trust CIO and supported by volunteers, with a long history of serving Halstead and the surrounding area.

For event planners, Empire Theatre offers a distinctive local performance venue with established technical infrastructure and an active community setting. Contact the theatre to discuss the proposed event, availability and any production requirements.
