Sutton Park

Sutton Park is a historic Georgian country estate in Sutton-on-the-Forest, a short distance from York. Set within 50 acres of parkland, the house and its gardens offer a distinctive setting for organisers considering a private event, wedding, outdoor gathering, filming or photography. The estate considers enquiries for exclusive hire of the house and grounds, and its wider parkland can also be hired for outdoor events. Organisers should contact the estate to discuss availability, arrangements and the suitability of the space for their plans.

The house dates from the eighteenth century and is known for its period interiors, decorative plasterwork and Chinese drawing room. Its collection of historic art and furnishings adds character to occasions and provides a memorable backdrop for photography. Outside, the landscaped gardens include mature trees, formal planting, a walled garden, an orchard, an Edwardian fernery and woodland walks. These varied settings give planners options for outdoor photographs and event layouts, including space where a marquee may be considered.

Sutton Park has also been listed as a wedding venue, with garden hire and accommodation for the couple and bridal party described by the venue's heritage listing. The estate is not licensed for wedding ceremonies on site, so couples should confirm ceremony arrangements when making an enquiry. The house and gardens open to visitors during advertised seasonal dates, while private tours are available by appointment for groups. This visitor activity is separate from private hire, which is arranged directly with the estate office. Sutton Park is a family home as well as a heritage attraction, so event planners should make an enquiry rather than assume spaces are routinely available.
