Rice's Horses

Rice's Horses is a country event venue in Buxton, around 30 miles west of Portland, where organisers can hold weddings, vow renewals and other gatherings in a peaceful, tree-lined setting. The property offers three event spaces: a barn, a park-like pasture and an indoor arena. Organisers can choose one or combine spaces for a ceremony, reception or special event. The venue is available for private viewings by appointment.

The site suits a range of occasions, including family reunions, graduation and birthday parties, anniversaries, company picnics, team events, church gatherings and holiday celebrations. On-site staff remain available during events to help with practical needs and check that things are running smoothly. There is a room for each wedding party to get ready, a games room for guests, and parking for up to 40 cars. Organisers can arrange catering or food trucks, though they will need to bring their own coolers. Larger gatherings should plan for additional toilets.

A distinctive feature is the option to add horses to the occasion. Couples and organisers can arrange photographs with a horse, or include a decorated cart pulled by a miniature horse for a flower girl or ring bearer. The property also offers guided trail rides, indoor arena riding and lessons, as well as horse-themed birthday packages and activities with miniature horses. These options make Rice's Horses suitable for events where guests would enjoy an equestrian setting or a hands-on horse experience. The indoor facilities allow activities to continue throughout the year, whatever the weather. Weddings and special events are accepting bookings for 2026 and beyond.
