Old Metropolitan Hall

Old Metropolitan Hall is a historic event venue on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall, offering a characterful setting for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate functions and private celebrations. Its restored interiors combine original architectural details with practical facilities for hosting gatherings across two floors.

The upstairs ballroom is suited to receptions, seated dinners, fundraisers and other larger occasions. Below, the bar cellar provides a more intimate place for drinks, desserts and dancing, with a built-in bar and room for a DJ or band. A seasonal outdoor patio adds a private open-air area for guests to mingle. For smaller meetings and dinners, the 101 Library offers a more secluded room with presentation facilities and its own restroom.

The venue can accommodate different event layouts, with capacity depending on the format and room arrangement. For larger bookings, the rental includes access to the ballroom, lower-level space, patio, catering kitchen and venue furniture. Audio-visual equipment, including a projector, screen, microphones and speakers, is available for presentations and background music. Organisers may work with approved caterers and other event vendors, while an on-site venue manager serves as the point of contact during the booking.

Old Metropolitan Hall offers daytime and evening rentals, with options for smaller business gatherings as well as larger celebrations. Its central location places guests within walking distance of Charlottesville hotels, restaurants, shops and theatres, making it a convenient choice for local events and wedding weekends.
