James Laughlin Music Center

The James Laughlin Music Center is a bookable event space on Chatham University's Shadyside campus in Pittsburgh. Organisers can consider it for concerts, presentations, conferences and mid-sized wedding receptions. The building's Welker Room offers a distinctive setting, with wood panelling, tall palladium windows and a spacious interior. It can accommodate musical performances, talks, celebrations and cocktail events, making it suitable for occasions that call for a characterful campus location.

The venue is part of Chatham University's wider Events and Conference Services offering. Organisers can contact the university's event team to discuss their requirements and receive help with planning. Depending on the event, available support includes catering, audio-visual and IT assistance, room set-up and facilities coordination. Room layouts can be adapted for presentations, dining, collaborative discussions or meetings, while the team can also help with practical arrangements such as parking.

Set among the historic buildings and landscaped grounds of the Shadyside campus, the centre provides an alternative to a conventional hotel or conference space. Its musical identity makes it a natural fit for performances and arts events, while the adaptable Welker Room can also serve for professional gatherings and private celebrations. Event planners can enquire with Chatham University about availability, room arrangements and the services needed for their event.
