Florakerk

Floraplein 2, 9820 Merelbeke, Belgium

Florakerk is a distinctive venue in the Florawijk district of Merelbeke for organisers looking for a place to hold a corporate event, talk, debate, conference, exhibition, concert or cultural activity. The local authority is making the church available temporarily while a new purpose for the building is being prepared. This gives the venue a characterful setting for gatherings that reflect the building's social and cultural character.

The church has a floor area of around 625 m². Excluding the side aisles, this is approximately 455 m². A floor plan is available so you can see in advance how the space could be arranged. There is ample free parking at Floraplein. The church is centrally located in the district, with Floraplein at the front and Pastoor Clausplein at the rear.

Applications are handled by the local authority. Once an application has been received, they will discuss with you whether the proposed programme can take place in the church. A venue hire agreement is drawn up only after approval, so organisers should allow for an assessment of their activity and the conditions of use.

The venue is not suitable for every type of celebration. Private events such as weddings, communion celebrations and family parties, dance parties and other activities with a distinct party atmosphere are not currently permitted. Activities that could damage the building are also not eligible. Florakerk is therefore particularly suited to organisers of business, cultural, educational and community-focused gatherings who are looking for a spacious, distinctive venue and can agree their programme in advance with the local authority.
