Ellsworth Block

Ellsworth Block is a historic event venue on Capitol Square in downtown Madison, offering distinctive indoor spaces for celebrations, professional gatherings and creative projects. Set within a building dating from 1871, the venue combines original architectural character with practical options for hosting guests in the city centre.

Organisers can enquire about spaces including the Maeder Room, Skydeck and Pinckney Suite. These areas provide different settings for gatherings, from intimate celebrations and microweddings to wedding ceremonies and receptions, company meetings, training sessions and community events. The venue also welcomes weekday dinner parties, pop-up markets and group meet-ups. Product and photo sessions can make use of the natural light and historic brick and sandstone interiors.

Wedding bookings are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with full-day or partial-day rental options and an on-site bridal suite. Private and organisational events can also be arranged as full or partial-day bookings, subject to availability. For dinners, organisers can enquire about weekday availability and their preferred arrangements.

Ellsworth Block provides venue hire with limited additional services rather than full event planning. Optional help may be available for room changes, furniture removal or specific setup requests. Organisers can discuss catering with the venue and arrange approved outside vendors. Wi-Fi is available, and the central Capitol Square location offers nearby hotel access and parking options.

The venue occupies the second and third floors, which are currently reached by stairs. Event planners should contact Ellsworth Block directly to discuss room suitability, current packages, availability and any access requirements for their guests.
