The Modern

The Modern is a private event venue in Long Beach, California, set on the top floor of a hangar at Long Beach Airport. Its 11,000 sq ft interior combines contemporary styling with distinctive airport views, offering organisers a flexible setting for weddings, celebrations and other private events. The venue hosts one event per day, giving each booking exclusive use of the space.

The layout includes the Salon, a Great Hall, a furnished lounge, a central bar and a terrace overlooking the airport's private jet runway. A walk-in wine cellar and a mezzanine bridal suite add character and practical spaces for wedding preparations. The Salon can be arranged for a ceremony and reception, while the lounge can be used for guests during a room change. Organisers can also hold amplified music or book a live band, subject to the venue's arrangements.

Facility hire includes tables, white chairs, furnishings, staffing and cleaning, with on-site parking for guests. Event vendors can access the venue before the booking for set-up, and additional guest-count or security fees may apply. Catering and bar service are arranged through the venue's preferred partners, with limited exceptions for specific dietary, cultural or religious requirements. Couples must hire a professional wedding coordinator, and the venue provides guidance on booking, rehearsals, set-up and event logistics.

With its dedicated wedding facilities, exclusive-use policy and several distinct spaces under one roof, The Modern gives event planners options for shaping a celebration around the couple, guest list and programme. Site visits are available by appointment, allowing organisers to view the rooms and terrace before planning their event.
