Swaythling Parish

Swaythling Parish provides a selection of practical, welcoming spaces for organisers looking to hire a room or hall in Southampton. The facilities are spread across St Alban’s Church on Tulip Road and St Mary’s Church South Stoneham, close to Wessex Lane and Riverside Park.

The Parish Hall at St Mary’s is the largest of the available spaces. It can accommodate approximately 100 people standing or 60 seated, making it suitable for meetings, workshops, fitness sessions, drama groups, music rehearsals and children’s clubs. Tables and chairs are available, while the adjoining kitchen includes useful facilities for refreshments and group activities. The hall also has a stage, separate toilets, an accessible toilet, a small car park and an enclosed garden area for outdoor use.

St Alban’s offers a community room for around 20 to 30 people seated at tables. This light, accessible room includes a kitchenette and is well suited to smaller meetings, lessons, workshops, clubs and local group sessions. The main church building can also be hired for concerts and music rehearsals, with seating for more than 200 people and a piano available by arrangement.

St Mary’s Church itself provides a distinctive historic setting for concerts, quiet days and church-related gatherings, with seating for approximately 60 to 80 people. The church and hall can be used together when additional facilities are required.

Bookings are available for one-off or regular use. The spaces are accessible to a range of community and event organisers, with practical amenities, flexible layouts and straightforward local facilities. Income from room hire supports the upkeep of the parish buildings and its community work.
