The Soundside Event Site

The Soundside Event Site is a spacious outdoor venue on the shores of Roanoke Sound in Nags Head, North Carolina. Covering approximately 10 acres, it provides event organisers with a flexible setting for festivals, fairs, weddings, markets, sporting activities, community gatherings and other large-scale occasions.

The site is offered as a practical blank canvas, giving organisers the freedom to shape the layout and bring in the temporary structures, suppliers and facilities needed for their event. Permitted options may include tents, food vendors, concessions, alcohol service and other event infrastructure, subject to approval from the relevant authorities. This makes the venue suitable for both informal outdoor celebrations and more structured public or corporate programmes.

The Soundside can accommodate up to around 750 guests with on-site parking, while larger events may be possible when additional off-site parking is arranged. The rental includes open lawns, parking areas and illuminated pathways, creating a useful foundation for guest movement, vendor placement and event production. The venue can be reserved up to one year ahead and is available for daily hire until 11 pm.

Its waterfront position gives events a distinctive coastal atmosphere, with broad views across the sound, open skies and memorable sunset scenery. Wedding parties can use the natural surroundings for ceremonies, receptions and photographs, while organisers of festivals, fairs and sports events benefit from the generous outdoor footprint. The nearby boardwalk, gazebo, pergola and waterfront features add further visual interest and provide attractive spaces for guests to gather, relax or enjoy the surroundings.

Owned by the Town of Nags Head and the Dare County Tourism Board, the site is managed by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau. Event organisers can access reservation information, guidelines and application materials through the management team before planning their event.
