Marlin's Wynd

Marlin's Wynd is an atmospheric exclusive-use venue in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, offering event organisers a distinctive setting for weddings, private parties, corporate dinners, receptions, product launches and private dining. The venue combines a Georgian reception room with atmospheric stone vaults beneath the city, creating a memorable backdrop for events that call for character, history and an intimate atmosphere.

The reception area forms part of an 18th-century tenement, while the vaulted cellars date back to the 1540s. Original stonework, arched doorways, candlelit interiors and the unusual underground layout give the venue a strong sense of place, making it particularly suitable for organisers looking for something different from a conventional hotel or function room. The entire venue is available for exclusive hire, allowing hosts and their guests to enjoy a private environment for the duration of the event.

Marlin's Wynd can accommodate seated dinners for approximately 20 to 80 guests, depending on the day and event format. Receptions can welcome larger groups, with capacity for up to around 120 guests. The venue also caters for weddings, with space for intimate daytime celebrations of approximately 40 to 50 guests and evening receptions of up to 120 people. Organisers can arrange background or party music through the venue's system, or bring in alternative entertainment such as a band or DJ.

Its central location, close to the Royal Mile and within walking distance of Waverley Station, makes it convenient for Edinburgh events. The venue is especially well suited to wedding breakfasts, private dinners, birthday celebrations, anniversary parties, corporate entertaining, media events and product presentations. Please note that access is via original stairs and the historic building is not wheelchair accessible.
