On SDG Action Day, companies, schools and social organizations came together for the inspiring SDG workshop at Social Impact Factory Aan de Gracht.
On Thursday 19 September, we opened our doors together with Utrecht4GlobalGoals at our location on the Gracht for an inspiring afternoon full of sustainable ambitions. Companies, social organisations and educational institutions came together to discover during the SDG workshop how they can actively contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The turnout was above expectations: the room was completely filled with enthusiastic participants, ready to increase their impact.
SDGs as a common language
The afternoon started with a fascinating presentation by Pam Vermeer, CSR advisor at De Duurzame Adviseurs. She showed how the SDGs can function as a common language to provide focus and direction. Pam gave the participants practical tools to embed sustainability in their own organization and showed how valuable it is to enter into dialogue with all stakeholders, from customers to suppliers. She concluded her presentation with a catchy quote from Loesje: “If we change now, the climate doesn’t have to.”
Personal stories and concrete steps
Jos Lutterman from the LunchMaatjes foundation also shared his story. He told how he traded in his well-paid job to tackle lunch poverty among children. His foundation now provides more than 1,700 children at 10 primary schools in Utrecht with a healthy lunch every day. The lunches also offer other positive results, such as a more balanced ability to concentrate, but also by helping children to eat healthier. "We get emails from parents asking how their child suddenly likes broccoli soup." Jos went on to say that he was initially quite skeptical about collaborations with large companies, but indicated that through the collaboration with the Albron foundation it is now possible to make a much greater impact and expand to the whole of the Netherlands.
Stimulating employee growth and development
Loes van der Heijden from Stichting EchtWaar then inspired with her story about social and circular entrepreneurship. “We offer people the opportunity to grow and develop,” Loes said. In their workshop, people with a distance to the labor market make ceramics, textiles and paper products from residual materials. An inspiring story from Loes and Irma about how EchtWaar makes an impact and puts people first. There was a lot of talk about that during the drinks!
From inspiration to action
The workshop was concluded with an interactive session by Paulina Kamphuis of Social Handprint. She got the participants to work by asking them which concrete activities within their organization contribute to the SDGs. Many participants, in conversation with their neighbor, came to the insight that they are committed to more SDGs than initially thought. The SDGs offer common ground and connection and that was palpable in the room.
Networking event full of valuable connections
After an afternoon full of insights and inspiration, it was time for the networking reception. Here, the shared experiences were discussed further, and new connections were made. Participants left with new ideas to increase their impact.
This successful afternoon was once again a confirmation that:
“Collaboration and learning from each other are crucial to achieving the SDGs.”

Op SDG Action Day kwamen bedrijven, scholen en maatschappelijke organisaties samen voor de inspirerende SDG-workshop bij Social Impact Factory Aan de Gracht.
Donderdag 19 september opende we samen met Utrecht4GlobalGoals op onze locatie aan de Gracht de deuren voor een inspirerende middag vol duurzame ambities. Bedrijven, maatschappelijke organisaties en onderwijsinstellingen kwamen samen om tijdens de SDG-workshop te ontdekken hoe zij actief kunnen bijdragen aan de Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). De opkomst was boven verwachting: de zaal zat helemaal vol met enthousiaste deelnemers, klaar om hun impact te vergroten.
SDG’s als gemeenschappelijke taal
De middag begon met een boeiende presentatie van Pam Vermeer, MVO-adviseur bij De Duurzame Adviseurs. Zij liet zien hoe de SDG’s kunnen fungeren als een gemeenschappelijke taal om focus en richting te geven. Pam gaf de deelnemers praktische handvatten om duurzaamheid in hun eigen organisatie te verankeren en liet daarbij zien hoe waardevol het is om de dialoog aan te gaan met alle betrokkenen, van klanten tot leveranciers. Ze sloot haar presentatie af met een pakkende quote van Loesje: “Als wij nu veranderen, dan hoeft het klimaat dat niet te doen.”
Persoonlijke verhalen en concrete stappen
Ook Jos Lutterman van stichting LunchMaatjes deelde zijn verhaal. Hij vertelde hoe hij zijn goedbetaalde baan inruilde om luncharmoede onder kinderen aan te pakken. Inmiddels voorziet zijn stichting meer dan 1700 kinderen op 10 Utrechtse basisscholen dagelijks van een gezonde lunch. De lunches bieden ook nog andere positieve resultaten, zoals een evenwichtiger concentratievermogen, maar ook door kinderen te helpen gezonder te eten. “We krijgen mailtjes van ouders met de vraag hoe hun kind ineens broccolisoep lust.” Jos vertelde verder dat hij eerst redelijk sceptisch was over samenwerkingen met grote bedrijven, maar gaf aan dat door de samenwerking met stichting Albron het nu mogelijk is om veel meer impact te maken en uit te breiden naar heel Nederland.
Stimuleren van groei en ontwikkeling van de medewerkers
Loes van der Heijden van Stichting EchtWaar inspireerde vervolgens met haar verhaal over sociaal en circulair ondernemen. “We bieden mensen de kans om te groeien en zich te ontwikkelen,” vertelde Loes. In hun werkplaats maken mensen met een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt keramiek, textiel en papierproducten van restmaterialen. Een inspirerend verhaal van Loes en Irma over hoe EchtWaar impact maakt en mensen centraal stelt. Daar werd tijdens de borrel nog veel over nagepraat!
Van inspiratie naar actie
De workshop werd afgesloten met een interactieve sessie van Paulina Kamphuis van Social Handprint. Ze zette de deelnemers aan het werk door hen te vragen welke concrete activiteiten binnen hun organisatie bijdragen aan de SDG’s. Veel deelnemers kwamen in gesprek met hun buurman tot het inzicht dat ze zich voor meer SDG’s inzetten dan in eerste instantie gedacht. De SDG’s bieden raakvlak en verbinding en dat was voelbaar in de zaal.
Netwerkborrel vol waardevolle connecties
Na een middag vol inzichten en inspiratie was het tijd voor de netwerkborrel. Hier werd verder gepraat over de gedeelde ervaringen, en er werden nieuwe connecties gelegd. Deelnemers vertrokken met nieuwe ideeën om hun impact te vergroten.
