Alex Agnew, André Hazes, Axelle Red, 5 match days Euro 2020 on the big screen, Gers Pardoel, Het Schlagerfestival, Jan Smit, Mama's Jasje, Natalia, Soulsister, ... The list of artists and events for the Proximus Pop-Up Arena in Middelkerke is longer and longer. Sportpaleis Group, Middelkerke and Proximus have given the green light for a lively concert summer in Middelkerke.

Expertise and a lot of enthusiasm!

In the summer of last year, Sportpaleis Group unfolded plans to build a temporary arena in Middelkerke. The developments of the corona virus called this project into question more than once. On Tuesday 11 May, the events sector got the long-awaited perspective. The predetermined maximum number of visitors are perfectly dimensioned for the capacity of this innovative hall concept. In July, the Proximus Pop-Up Arena will be able to receive up to 2,500 visitors with a mouth mask and a seat between each reservation. That number can be increased in August, taking into account additional measures.

“The entire team behind our arenas and theaters is ready to get started with great enthusiasm,” says Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO of the Sportpaleis Group. We will be able to use all our expertise to offer visitors a wonderful concert experience. ”

Audiences and artists have been yearning for this moment for over a year. Now that there is certainty about the Proximus Pop-Up Arena, we notice a greatly increased interest from organizers in this very attractive format: a concert venue that combines the atmosphere of a festival with the comfort of an arena. The calendar will soon be supplemented with additional concerts. Natalia kicks off on Thursday 8 July with the start of the concert series “A Symphonic Evening with”.

“I am incredibly looking forward to being on stage again. That has been a long time since. Way too long, if you think about it. So there is a great urge to bang (laughs). I can't wait to play live again and with a symphony orchestra! This will be enjoyed from the first to the last note, also for the audience that has been hungry for so long. Hang on a little longer. On July 8, we will provide a great evening in Middelkerke ", promises Natalia.

"Enjoy music and the healthy sea air"

Mayor Jean-Marie Dedecker is also pleased with the announced relaxation: “The impressive concert calendar will largely determine the rhythm of our fantastic summer offer. I have said it before in recent weeks: in Middelkerke you can enjoy the healthy sea air in the safest conditions. And thanks to the arrival of the Proximus Pop-up Arena, that breathing frequency will go up firmly in the air, because people will gasp at the performances of the announced top artists. ”

"A beautiful musical summer for everyone"

Jim Casteele, Chief Consumer Market Officer of Proximus: “More than ever before, we are all looking forward to a summer full of music and sharing unique live experiences with friends or family. For many years, Proximus has been a proud partner of the most beautiful summer festivals and best concert halls in our country. We are therefore very pleased with the collaboration with the Sportpaleis Group and the creation of the Proximus Pop-Up arena. In line with our strategy, we can offer unforgettable moments here under the best conditions and present the most relevant content to our customers at Pickx. ”

“We are delighted to be a stage for great local and international artists. On the Pickx stage, we will also present emerging artists to the wider public at a number of concerts in this attractive concert hall. We are also pleased that the Sportpaleis Group has great ambitions in the field of sustainability and innovation. I look forward to a great musical summer for everyone. ”

The Proximus Pop-Up Arena will open its doors for the first time at the beginning of July 2021 and will remain the concert center of the coastal region until the end of August.
