BLADEL – Six specialized suppliers within the events and temporary infrastructure market are joining forces in The Event Family starting September 1. Van Ham Tenten & Podia, 123 Floorrent, Eekels Verhuur, Van Ham Infra, Meerdink Verhuur, and vd Aalst Verhuur will continue to operate as independent companies but will collaborate more intensively behind the scenes. With this structure, the new group aims to combine the benefits of economies of scale with the knowledge and flexibility of specialized suppliers.
The events market is changing. Productions are becoming larger and more complex, clients are placing higher demands on quality, safety, and delivery reliability, and available capacity is under pressure during peak periods. The Event Family aims to respond to this by better connecting the capacity, people, and knowledge of six companies.
The collaboration goes beyond a shared name. Planning, logistics, HR, marketing, and work preparation are increasingly organized jointly within the group. Personnel, warehouse capacity, equipment, and facilities can also be deployed across the boundaries of the individual companies.
CEO Martijn van den Broek sees the strength of the new organizational model precisely in that combination.
The market is increasingly demanding greater capacity, flexibility, and the assurance that a supplier can deliver, even for complex productions. At the same time, I do not believe that scaling up automatically means consolidating everything into one large company. Specialized knowledge, entrepreneurship, and short lines of communication are precisely what are valuable. With The Event Family, we combine these two worlds: independent specialists at the front end and collective strength at the back end.
Specialization remains the guiding principle
The Event Family has deliberately chosen not to merge the six companies into a single rental company. The enterprises retain their own names, employees, customers, commercial responsibility, and market position.
Van Ham Tenten & Podia continues to focus on tents, stages, and temporary event structures; 123 Floorrent on temporary flooring systems; Eekels Verhuur on concert stages and event structures; Meerdink Verhuur on event furniture; and vd Aalst Verhuur on party and event rentals. Within the group, Van Ham Infra focuses on temporary public-friendly infrastructure.
The activities of the companies may overlap in certain areas. Within The Event Family, enterprises can also operate independently in the same market. Collaboration primarily takes place where economies of scale yield operational benefits.
“Our ambition is emphatically not for every company to be able to supply everything,” says Van den Broek. “On the contrary, we want every company to continuously improve in its own field. The collaboration behind the scenes gives our companies the space and capacity to continue doing so, even on larger and more complex assignments.”
Combined capacity for large productions
How that collaboration works in practice becomes visible in large productions. At a festival, for example, Van Ham Tenten & Podia might be responsible for tents and stages, while 123 Floorrent supplies the temporary flooring and Meerdink Verhuur takes care of the event furniture.
Each company remains responsible for its own discipline and customer agreements. Behind the scenes, the companies can coordinate their planning and transport and utilize available personnel, equipment, and facilities within the group. This offers extra flexibility and delivery reliability, especially during peak periods and when multiple productions are running simultaneously.
Five worlds
The activities of The Event Family come together in five worlds: Festivals & Concerts, Corporate Events & Trade Shows, Film & Television, Sports & Public Events, and Construction & Infrastructure.
Consequently, the group's scope of work extends from festival grounds and concert venues to business events, film sets, sporting events, and temporary infrastructural environments. The applications vary, but the need is often similar: specialized knowledge, reliable temporary solutions, and sufficient capacity to realize even large and complex projects.
Collectively, The Event Family has more than 100 employees, four warehouses with approximately 35,000 m² of storage space, and the six companies execute more than 1,500 projects annually in the Benelux and Germany.
