The most requested piece for us, The String Quartet, for the bride's entrance is Canon by Pachelbel. Also called the Canon in D. It is not without reason that this piece is in such high demand; it is inextricably linked to a wedding, a marriage, a wedding day as you wish.
Sometimes a bride apologizes for it being 'a cliché' but why is it chosen so often? Because the piece 'works', it is magic!
This piece is perfect for a long entrance in its full length, but it can also be shortened. In fact; the bridal couple may express a preference for the tempo at which the piece is played. Some couples like it best with a fast tempo, while other couples prefer a slow tempo. Everything is possible.
I would like to think along with you because a slow pace suits a long run-up best. After all, we want to experience the climax at 1 minute 20 to 1 minute 50 without having to wait too long for it
Back to this beautiful Canon in D by Pachelbel.
To give you an idea; imagine…. We start playing this piece, just the cello with the viola in the version you see on our YouTube channel, and after the groom counts to ten he comes with his mother perhaps? Forward. Maybe alone. Of course, he is also ready at the front, but because the piece is so long, anyone can walk to the front. Also with a approach route of 100 meters. Then maybe 10 seconds later the bridesmaids will come. These are sometimes followed by the ring bearer or ring bearers, again at a distance of ten seconds. Do you see a cute child walking around scattering flower petals, or forgetting to scatter because she is so impressed by the guests and the silence? The bride now tries to wait longer than ten seconds before walking forward alone or on her father's arm.
By the time she has come to the front and accepts the hand of her husband, a kiss is often shared, his admiration for how she looks is expressed, and after a few seconds of enchantment, the bridal couple, you sit down. The dress is beautifully laid while The String Quartet is at the height of the Canon and within 20 seconds we now complete the Canon.
This is really so beautiful; you don't want to believe that. And even though I've played the Canon hundreds of times, I can still be touched by how special the moment is for you, the bridal couple.

Het meest gevraagde stuk voor ons, Het Strijkkwartet, voor de entree van de bruid is Canon van Pachelbel. Ook wel de Canon in D genoemd. Dit stuk is niet voor niets zoveel gevraagd; het is onlosmakelijk verbonden met een bruiloft, een huwelijk, een huwelijksdag zoals je wilt.
Soms verontschuldigt een bruid zich voor het feit dat het 'een cliché' is maar waarom wordt het zo vaak gekozen? Omdat het stuk ‘werkt’, het is magic!
Dit stuk is in zijn volle lengte perfect voor een lange entree, maar hij kan ook worden ingekort. Sterker nog; het bruidspaar mag een voorkeur uitspreken voor het tempo waarin het stuk gespeeld wordt. Sommige paren vinden het het mooist klinken met een vlot tempo, terwijl andere paren voor langzaam gaan. Alles kan.
Wel denk ik graag met je mee want een langzaam tempo past het mooist bij een lange aanloop. We willen tenslotte wel het hoogtepunt op 1 minuur 20 tot 1 minuut 50 mee maken zonder dat we er te lang op moeten wachten
Terug naar deze prachtige Canon in D van Pachelbel.
Om je een idee te geven; stel je voor…. Wij beginnen dit stuk te spelen, alleen de cello met de altviool in de versie die je op ons YouTube kanaal ziet, en nadat de bruidegom tot tien heeft geteld komt hij misschien met zijn moeder? Naar voren. Misschien alleen. Natuurlijk mij hij ook al vooraan klaar staan maar omdat het stuk zo lang is kan iedereen hierop naar voren lopen. Ook met een aanlooproute van 100 meter. Daarna komen 10 seconden later wellicht de bruidsmeisjes. Deze worden nog wel eens gevolgd door de ringdrager of ringdragers, ook weer op tien seconden afstand. Zie je nu een schattig kindje lopen dat bloemblaadjes strooit, of vergeet te strooien omdat ze zo onder de indruk is van de gasten en de stilte? De bruid probeert nu nog langer dan tien seconden te wachten voor zij alleen of aan de arm van haar vader naar voren loopt.
Tegen de tijd dat zij vooraan gekomen is en de hand aanneemt van haar aanstaande wordt er vaak een kus gedeeld, zijn bewondering voor hoe zij eruitziet uitgesproken, en na enkele seconden betovering gaat het bruidspaar, gaan júllie, zitten. De jurk wordt mooi gelegd terwijl Het Strijkkwartet op het hoogtepunt van de Canon zit en binnen 20 seconden ronden wij de Canon nu af.
Dít is echt zo mooi; dat wil je niet geloven. En al heb ik de Canon al honderden keren gespeeld, toch kan ik nog steeds geraakt worden door hoe speciaal het moment is voor jullie, het bruidspaar.
