Physical meetings are the norm, but since corona, “hybrid” meetings have become very popular. Read what this means here.

Since the start of the corona pandemic, companies have discovered the benefits of online meetings en masse. After all, meeting on Zoom or other online platforms offers many advantages. But a lot of subtle communication (such as body language) and informal contacts are still lost. For meetings on sensitive topics, introducing a new management team or coordinating across different countries, physical meetings offer many advantages. It is also clear that people have missed seeing each other in person again. But still, organizers must consider travel restrictions, quarantines, and also costs when planning meetings. The solution? Hybrid meetings.

We have developed such a solution for a European Works Council in the Serwir Hotel in Sint-Niklaas. A listed Belgian company wanted to bring together their trade union representatives from France, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Poland to consult with top management during the European Works Council. The customer was looking for Dutch, French, English and Polish interpreters. The challenge: the English-speaking participants could not travel to Belgium due to entry restrictions. We have devised a hybrid format as a solution. A combination of a physical meeting for the people who could attend and a virtual meeting for the participants who wanted to participate remotely. The interpreters sat in the room with the participants, with the translation being broadcast locally and sent via the internet to the remote participants. A technological tour de force that ensured a flawless result. The English-speaking participants were able to follow everything perfectly and also give their input to the meeting. This allowed the company to save on travel costs and lost work time without sacrificing meeting efficiency.

Are you facing the same challenges? Are you also looking for a hybrid solution for your meetings with interpreters? Please feel free to contact us and we will work out a tailor-made proposal!
