Under a radiant sun, presenters Carl Huybrechts and Esohe Weyden kicked off a large and well-attended folk festival on the Grote Markt on Saturday, June 18, shortly after noon, celebrating the reopening of the renovated Antwerp City Hall. The festival was broadcast live on ATV. An extensive Sylvester team led everything in the right direction and ensured an unforgettable show with many acts, fun fringe animation, Radio Minerva, surprising music performances, DJs, an impressive inauguration moment and as apotheosis a real sing-along musical from the town hall. En masse many Sinjoren and tourists experienced a day that they will remember for a long time.

The town hall was closed for more than 4 years for an intensive and thorough restoration and renovation. But the wait was absolutely worth it, because the monumental Renaissance building looks magnificent and has been renamed an open house for all Antwerp residents that meets all applicable comfort and sustainability requirements. In short: the heritage gem with a rich past is ready for a vibrant future.

Bruisen also hosted the inauguration party that was organized for the reopening of the town hall. Young and old enjoyed and amused themselves: people had their dreams canned, feasted on free cupcakes and were amazed at the performances by the vendeliers, the Stadtrommelaars and the singers of Klassiek aan de Schelde. People danced along to the pictures that Radio Minerva played from their pop-up studio in the town hall about the Grote Markt and there was a lot of goosebumps in the audience when six guests of honor and the mayor released the combination lock after which the gates of the town hall finally opened. reopened. When afterwards the legendary Strangers played the song “Antwarpe” together with the mayor from 't Schoon Verdiep, the entire Grote Markt and all adjacent terraces sang along with full dedication. Later in the evening, when it was dark, the facade of the town hall became the setting for a unique sing-along musical. The beautiful light and singing spectacle was much appreciated by the audience present.

The extremely varied event in the town hall and on the Grote Markt, which lasted more than 10 hours, with all kinds of acts, animations and music performances taking place in different places at the same time, required a lot of preparation, planning and coordination from the Sylvester team. But thanks to our expertise, commitment and experience, it turned out to be a very successful inauguration. When asked 'Where is that party?' there was only 1 correct answer on June 18: on the Grote Markt in Antwerp where the renovated city hall was inaugurated.
