Rain or Shine Theatre Company

Rain or Shine Theatre Company is a professional touring theatre company based in Gloucester, producing live plays for audiences around the UK. Its programme centres on outdoor performances of classical theatre, staged at locations such as gardens, castles and historic houses. These pop-up productions bring familiar plays to open-air settings and are designed to tour to communities beyond the company’s home city.

The company also presents an indoor winter season, with comic adaptations of classic stories performed in smaller theatres and village halls. Its work includes plays by writers such as Shakespeare, Sheridan, Goldsmith and Wilde, alongside new adaptations that give well-known material a lively, humorous treatment. Productions typically rely on a compact cast and energetic performances, making them suited to touring venues with different stage arrangements.

For theatre programmers and organisers looking for a live performance to include in a public programme, Rain or Shine offers a distinctive theatrical option for both outdoor and indoor settings. Its touring model brings productions to established venues and local spaces, where audiences can attend a scheduled show. The company focuses on presenting theatre rather than providing a venue, catering or general event-planning service. Its current programme includes seasonal productions, with outdoor summer shows and indoor winter performances, giving venues opportunities to host different styles of theatre throughout the year.
