The King Alfred Phoenix Theatre

The King Alfred Phoenix Theatre is a theatre and event venue available to hire in Ivy Wood, North London. Set within the grounds of The King Alfred School, it offers organisers a dedicated performance space for plays, musicals, concerts, dance, rehearsals and community productions. The auditorium can also accommodate conferences, seminars and lectures, making it suitable for both creative and professional events.

The room can be adapted to suit different formats. Retractable raked seating provides capacity for around 120 guests, while removing the seating creates a flat-floor layout for standing audiences of up to 150. The stage can be arranged in end-on, traverse or in-the-round configurations, with capacity varying according to the chosen layout. This flexibility allows organisers to plan an audience-focused performance or a more open arrangement for a talk or gathering.

Technical facilities include professional stage lighting, a digital sound desk, projection and audio-visual equipment. Organisers can also make use of three dressing rooms, a green room and a bar area for refreshments. Technical support is available to help productions make use of the theatre's equipment and stage facilities.

The venue is offered for public hire as well as being used for school and community activities. Its woodland setting gives the space a distinct character, while its North End Road address places it within reach of Golders Green. Event planners can contact the theatre team to discuss availability, access arrangements and the technical requirements of a booking.
