Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Center

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Center is a multi-purpose venue in downtown Savannah, offering event organisers a choice of spaces for performances, meetings and gatherings. The facility is also known by its former name, Savannah Civic Center, and is owned by the City of Savannah and managed by Oak View Group.

The remaining venue spaces include the Johnny Mercer Theatre, a grand ballroom, meeting rooms and promenades. The theatre provides a large seated auditorium and stage for concerts, shows, presentations and other audience events. For receptions, dinners and social occasions, the ballroom offers approximately 6,000 square feet of space, with capacity for up to 340 guests. A separate meeting area of around 3,000 square feet can accommodate smaller gatherings in a reception-style layout, while additional rooms offer organisers more options for meetings and functions.

The venue welcomes enquiries for corporate meetings, conventions, galas, weddings, parties, reunions and other special events. Its mix of auditorium, ballroom and meeting facilities makes it possible to select a setting suited to different formats and guest numbers. The site is undergoing a redevelopment programme, including removal of the former arena. The City of Savannah has stated that the Johnny Mercer Theatre, lobby, ballroom and meeting rooms will remain in service during this work.
