The Rickhouse

The Rickhouse is a historic event venue in downtown Durham, North Carolina, available to hire for weddings, corporate functions and private celebrations. The building was constructed in 1938 as a prizery, and its former industrial character gives the space a distinctive setting. A glass wall looks into the neighbouring Liberty & Plenty distillery, while the outdoor balcony overlooks Durham Athletic Park.

Couples can use the venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners and post-wedding brunches. The space is also offered for company events, holiday parties, seminars, luncheons, university functions, fundraisers, trade shows and community gatherings. Private celebrations include birthdays, graduations, bar and bat mitzvahs, anniversaries and retirement parties.

The flexible layout can be adapted for different guest numbers and event styles, from a ceremony or presentation to a seated dinner or reception. Features include a large dance floor, tables and chairs, a private dressing suite, two bars and audio-visual equipment such as a projector, screen, wireless microphone and speakers. The balcony provides an additional area for guests to gather.

The Rickhouse provides event managers and bar staff, with packages for cocktails, beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails. Organisers choose from the venue's list of approved caterers, and must arrange at least a day-of event coordinator. Tours and planning meetings are by appointment, with a tailored proposal provided after a tour.
