Old Brick

Old Brick is a historic event venue in downtown Iowa City, offering adaptable spaces for weddings, receptions, private celebrations, meetings, lectures and community gatherings. Built in 1856 as a church, the landmark combines period character with practical facilities for contemporary events.

The Main Hall provides more than 3,000 square feet of open space and can seat up to 225 guests. Its flexible layout suits wedding ceremonies and receptions, dinners, talks and other gatherings. Tables and chairs are available, along with a stage, sound system, microphones, piano, Wi-Fi, a bar area and coat check space. A separate room can be used for changing, preparation or food service, and the commercially licensed kitchen gives organisers useful support for catered events. Outside caterers and other event suppliers are welcome. There is also a 2,000-square-foot outdoor patio for guests to mingle or enjoy time outside.

For smaller occasions, the lower-level Common Room accommodates up to 60 people and can be hired by the hour or for a full day. It works well for intimate gatherings, meetings, showers and rehearsal dinners, with tables, chairs, a kitchenette and an optional adjoining library space. Accessibility features, accessible toilets and on-site parking add practical convenience. Old Brick also offers special rental rates for eligible non-profit and community events. Organisers can enquire about availability, discuss the spaces and arrange a tour to find a suitable layout for their event.
