Blockhouse

Blockhouse is an intimate event venue set within the garden surroundings of Pomarius Nursery, near Portland's Pearl District. Its chef-inspired kitchen and warm, flexible interior provide a setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners, private celebrations and smaller gatherings. The venue can also suit organisers planning a dinner, cocktail reception or company event.

The main space accommodates up to 60 guests seated or 75 standing. Organisers can add the Pomarius Nursery Orangerie to expand the event area, with combined capacity for up to 120 people. A furnished patio, outdoor lounge furniture and bistro lighting offer additional space for guests, while the covered outdoor areas can be enclosed with clear sides during cooler weather.

Standard hire includes a 12-hour booking, venue staff on site, set-up and breakdown of the venue's own tables, chairs and bar, plus a built-in surround sound system. A chef-inspired kitchen is available for event catering, which must be provided by a licensed, approved business. Blockhouse recommends its preferred catering teams, and organisers can enquire about bringing another caterer or a particular chef.

For weddings, the venue offers a complimentary one-hour ceremony rehearsal when the ceremony is booked. Organisers can also ask the venue team about rates, availability, additional audiovisual requirements and the Orangerie. The garden setting, modest guest capacity and included furnishings make Blockhouse especially suited to celebrations where a more intimate atmosphere is important.
