Caledonian Hall

Caledonian Hall is an event venue within the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, offering organisers a characterful indoor space surrounded by the Garden's plant collections. Originally built as a herbarium, the listed building has high ceilings, large windows and natural daylight, with views across the Rock Garden and its waterfalls. Its setting makes it a distinctive choice for celebrations and gatherings in Edinburgh.

The hall is available for wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as private parties, dinners and corporate occasions. Civil and Humanist ceremonies can be held here, and the space can accommodate up to 100 guests for a ceremony or seated meal. Evening receptions can welcome up to 120 people. The venue also suits meetings and presentations, with layouts for theatre, classroom, boardroom and cabaret-style events. Facilities include Wi-Fi, a PA system and adjustable lighting, and the hall is wheelchair accessible.

Organisers can enquire about tailored event arrangements through the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh's events team. The wider Garden offers additional indoor and outdoor locations, so couples and planners can discuss combining spaces for different parts of an occasion. The surrounding grounds provide a tranquil backdrop for guest arrival and photographs, while the hall's period features give indoor events a sense of place. The venue is available for events during the day and into the evening, with receptions permitted until midnight. Caledonian Hall is suited to planners seeking a historic Edinburgh setting for a wedding, celebration, meeting or reception, with the Garden's team available to discuss requirements and booking options.
