The Blue Heron at Blackthorn

The Blue Heron at Blackthorn is an event venue in South Bend, Indiana, for organisers planning weddings, business gatherings and private celebrations. The venue welcomes events ranging from smaller occasions to gatherings of up to 300 guests, with indoor rooms and outdoor areas overlooking Blackthorn Golf Course.

Its main ballroom can be divided into smaller sections, allowing the layout to suit different group sizes and event formats. A reception area, veranda and tented patio provide further options for arrivals, drinks, dining or outdoor entertaining, depending on the occasion and weather. The setting is suited to wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as corporate meetings, seminars, training sessions, retreats, holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, showers and family gatherings.

Food is prepared and served in-house, with menu choices that can be tailored to the event. The team offers made-from-scratch dishes and can accommodate dietary requirements by arranging changes to a menu or individual items. Organisers can discuss packages, menu options and pricing with the venue before booking, and couples can arrange a tasting to explore the food.

Planning support is available for weddings, corporate functions and private events. The staff can help coordinate details such as room layouts, seating, décor, food and staffing, as well as event set-up and clear-down. The venue is available by appointment, with evening and weekend arrangements possible on request. Its location near the Indiana Toll Road, US 31 bypass and South Bend Regional Airport can also help with access for guests travelling from outside the area.
