Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA

The Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts offers a collection of theatre and event spaces in Boston’s South End. Managed by the Huntington Theatre Company, the venue welcomes organisers planning private parties, receptions, meetings, conferences, seminars, performances and other gatherings. Its spaces can accommodate events ranging from small groups to larger occasions of up to 500 guests, depending on the rooms selected and the event layout.

The venue includes the 370-seat Virginia Wimberly Theatre, a proscenium space suited to performances, concerts, presentations and corporate events. The Nancy and Edward Roberts Studio Theatre provides a more adaptable setting for performances, conferences and catered functions, with seating arranged to suit the programme. For smaller or more informal events, the Carol G. Deane Rehearsal Hall can be used for receptions, meetings, luncheons and seminars. The Nicholas Martin Rehearsal Hall and the pavilion’s lobby areas provide further options for performances, gatherings and reception space alongside a theatre booking.

Organisers can discuss room combinations and event requirements with the venue management team. Technical facilities include sound and lighting infrastructure, with projection equipment and microphones available by arrangement. The pavilion provides wine, beer and soft drinks through its beverage service. Outside caterers may be considered subject to approval, and organisers should coordinate deliveries and setup with the venue in advance. Rentals are offered at commercial and non-profit rates, subject to the theatre programme and space availability.
