The Truman

The Truman is a distinctive event venue in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, combining the atmosphere of a live music hall with the flexibility required for private and corporate functions. Set in a characterful building dating from the 1930s, the venue offers an industrial-style setting with a spacious main hall, polished bars, a separate entrance lounge, an open-air patio and a second-storey VIP area overlooking the stage and main room.

The venue is suitable for a wide variety of occasions, including weddings, charity events, corporate conferences, trade shows, receptions, concerts and large private parties. Its open floor plan allows organisers to adapt the layout to suit the format of the event, whether that means a standing reception, formal banquet, theatre-style presentation or live entertainment programme. The Truman can host up to 1,200 guests standing, while formal banquet seating is available for groups of up to 375 and theatre-style arrangements for approximately 450 people.

Event organisers benefit from a dedicated events contact and the opportunity to arrange a venue tour before booking. The venue provides exclusive use for up to 12 consecutive hours on the event day, including set-up and dismantling. Wedding ceremonies and receptions must be coordinated by a professional event planner, with the venue’s Events Director working alongside the planner during preparation and delivery. With its built-in bars, stage environment, city views and adaptable layout, The Truman offers a memorable backdrop for weddings, business gatherings, fundraisers, trade events and celebrations requiring a strong sense of occasion.
