In 2008, six experienced musicians found themselves under the name Gumbo Jazzband, who embraced traditional Jazz. The name Gumbo Jazzband is taken from the popular New Orleans dish, gumbo. TheThe basis of a gumbo is a solid roux, similar to the band's rhythm section. The other components and ingredients of a gumbo vary time and time again, as do the varied solos of the horns and the originality of the songs. The repertoire consists of a mix of well-known and less well-known traditional jazz songs, in which we have set ourselves the goal of performing the often forgotten but beautiful verses and vocals of the songs.
The band plays in the style of the New Orleans Revival after World War II and the so-called “Dance Bands” of the same period. The band plays at home and abroad and organizes a monthly Sunday matinee in its own Jazz Temple in Maastricht. It is very catchy and very danceable music.

- Support act of the British pop band VAN in Paradiso (Amsterdam);
- 10-day concert trip to New Orleans with two performances during the French Quarter Festival, steamboat Natchez, Palm Court Café, Fritzels (4x)
- Fete de la Musique (Liege B).
- Jazzraley (Düsseldorf D), Jazz clubs including Gladbeck and Jülich,
- performances during Ardent Swing Festival and Jeker Jazz Festival.
- various performances during Lindy Hop festivals in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands
