Give hands

Giving hands has always been a culture thing within my companies. It was a kind of agreement that every employee who walked into one of our offices or works one day, shook hands with all the people present with the message: how nice that you are here, you are welcome. It was not a must (preferably not even haha) to start a whole conversation with every handshake, but every employee could feel seen and appreciated every day. But, that is no longer allowed ... As I read last week in the interview with Erwin JO Kompanje, PhD in de Volkskrant: 'The fact that we are no longer allowed to shake hands means quite a lot. A handshake is symbolic and expresses respect and equality. You feel the warmth of my hand, the force with which I press and that gives a connection. Relationships arise because we take each other's hands. Peace is sealed with a handshake. What does almost everyone in the world do with a dying patient? Hold a hand, because that gives peace of mind. It is not normal that we are not allowed to do that anymore. What is the "worst" thing for you that you are (temporarily) no longer allowed to do? #hand-giving #culture #entrepreneurship
