Hi Ovanes, welcome to our studio.
Hi, thank you for inviting me.
The Eventex Award. What is it about?
It's about recognizing the achievements of event professionals worldwide. We did the awards for two years in Bulgaria and they were successful, so we decided to do them internationally this year.
Okay. And, why is there a need for yet another award, because there are lots of award shows already in the event arena.
I really don't know if there are any other international awards, I haven't seen one. So, we thought it would be good to have international awards that are not only for a specific country.
Okay. You do it fully online.
Yeah, it's fully online. With, no ceremony.
And why is that, because it's an award show for the event industry, then you would think there will be an event.
Because I think it would be really difficult for someone from South America or from Asia to come to Europe for the ceremony, and its pointless to have a ceremony where half of the participants are not there.
That's true indeed. Can you tell us a little bit about who you are? What's the organisation behind the award shows?
The company's called Web and Events, you can see the logo at the back.
Yeah, we can see.
We're organising mostly conferences and seminars in Bulgaria, in Sofia, the capital city. We invite a lot of people from the U.K. We organise Eventex Conferences also, which is the same brand as Eventex Awards. In 2014 it will be on the 20th of February. And, we do mostly marketing and sales events.
And, if I have an event agency I want to participate in the awards, how does it work?
You have to submit your entry. It costs 49 euros per entry right now.
That's a reasonable price.
Yeah, it's cheaper than most awards because it's online, so we don't have so many costs. And, after that, they receive a username and a password and they can fill in their registration form which is part of the entry.
And, you have different categories?
Yeah, we have eight different categories.We have corporate event of the year, music event of the year, etc. And we have four non-event categories. We have event technology of the year, event producer of the year, destination of the year, venue of the year.
How will the winners be elected?
We have a really big jury, there are important members from different countries.
I'm in it myself so, indeed I know.
They're making it from event professionals mostly. But there are also other people from the industry. There will be between six and eight jury members voting for each category.
Okay. And, what's really new in what you guys are doing is that it's fully transparent, everything that the jury will see will be available for everyone to see.
Yeah, each entry will give a rating of each entry from 1 to 10, and can add a comment and all this will be visible after the winners are announced.
Why is that?
Because I think its really important for each participant to see that the event is transparent and that the judging process is honest. Because, lots of companies are really not trusting the awards because the judging process is not transparent.
Until when do companies have time to submit their entries for the contest?
Until the 17th of January 2014.
